Appreciating Our Dads

In just one week we celebrate the amazing father’s in our lives. For me, that’s my own amazing dad, husband, grandfathers, uncles, and many other dad type friends. This awesome group of guys are wonderful father’s to their own kids, young and not-so-young, but have also been incredible influences, teachers, caregivers and support for me over my lifetime (which I won’t dare say how many years that is).

From a young child, I looked to the dads around me for love, laughs and basic life needs. As I grew older, challenges in life proved that those close to you will help shape how you deal with tough situations, emotional times, and how your treat others. These men were character builders whether they knew it at the time or not. I truly appreciate them a whole lot.

How many times in our lives do we think, “What would Dad do?” or “What would Dad say?” Many times, I would find myself calling on these men for guidance, encouragement, support and knowledge. I’m forever grateful to these men in my life, current and past, who have helped me in so many ways that I can never really express it all.

Getting back to my own Dad and husband, when it comes to Father’s Day, basically it comes down to finding meaningful ways to thank and honor them for their important roles they each play in my life and the lives of my 3 growing boys. If you are like me and find it to be a struggle sometimes to find a gift that they actually enjoy, below are some gift ideas… hey, these are much better than the annual tie for Dad’s Day, am I right??!!
